Tenório was founded in the Algarve, working the tuna that ran through Portugal's southern waters. As those stocks declined, the company followed the fish — relocating to the Azores, an archipelago sitting directly in the migratory path of Atlantic tuna. The move proved decisive. The Azores is now one of the most important tuna fishing grounds in the world, and Tenório has been there ever since, with canneries on three islands.
Each tin contains two perfectly cut fillets, cleaned and packed by hand in olive oil with nothing else added. The fish is firm and clean, the flavour mild and well-balanced — a tin built on the quality of what's inside it rather than what's been added to it.
Flake over a Niçoise salad. Fold through warm pasta with capers and a squeeze of lemon. Or eat straight from the tin with good bread — the classic Portuguese way, and still the best one.

Brand
Tenório is one of Portugal's oldest tuna brands — founded in the Algarve, now exclusively Azorean, with canneries on Pico, São Miguel and Faial. The tin bears the face of founder Francisco Rodrigues Tenório, a retro-style portrait that has become one of the most recognisable labels in Portuguese conservas. Over a century in, the method is still the same: two fillets, packed by hand.
