Rockfish began as a seafood restaurant group on the Devon coast — a place built around the conviction that British waters produce some of the best fish in the world. The tinned range came from a simple question: how do you preserve that quality beyond the day the fish is caught?

The answer led them to northern Spain, to small family-run canneries in Cantabria where every tin is made by hand. No conveyor belts. Each fish is cleaned, steamed, trimmed and packed individually, with scissors and tweezers, by people who have been doing this for a long time.

This tin is albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga) — rod-and-line caught in the North West Atlantic, which means one fish at a time and no bycatch. Preserved in olive oil with nothing else added. The flesh is firm, mild and clean, with the oil carrying the flavour through. A lean, well-made tin that earns its place as a serious pantry staple.

Flake over a white bean salad with capers and parsley. Fold through warm pasta with a spoonful of the olive oil and a pinch of chilli. Or eat straight from the tin on toast with a squeeze of lemon.

Brand

Rockfish is a Devon-based seafood group founded by Mitch Tonks — restaurants first, then tins, driven by the same question: how do you make great British fish last? The answer took them to family-run canneries in Cantabria, where every tin is still made entirely by hand. British fish, Spanish craft.
